💬Forum & Expert Q&A

  1. Navigate to the Community tab and tap "Forum."
  2. Browse topics by category: General Growing, Pest & Disease, Soil & Compost, Specialty Crops, Equipment, and more.
  3. Post a question with text, photos, and your growing zone.
Adding your zone and a photo dramatically increases the chance of getting a helpful response. Master gardeners and agronomists actively answer questions.
  4. Save helpful threads for future reference by tapping the bookmark icon.
💡
When posting a question about a sick plant, include: a clear photo of the problem, your zone, how long you've had the plant, recent care changes, and recent weather. This helps experts diagnose faster.

🌾Seed Swap Network

  1. In the Community tab, tap "Seed Swap."
  2. List seeds you're willing to trade.
Include variety name, quantity, harvest year, germination rate (if tested), and a photo of the seed packet or saved seeds.
  3. Browse available seeds from other growers, filtered by your zone and growing interests.
  4. Send a swap request to another grower.
Coordinate the exchange via in-app messaging. Both parties rate each other after the swap is complete.
💡
Seed swaps are a great way to try new varieties without spending money. Heritage and heirloom seeds from local growers are often better adapted to your climate than store-bought seeds.

📍Local Groups

  1. In the Community tab, tap "Local Groups."
  2. Browse groups near you or search by interest (raised bed gardening, permaculture, beekeeping, etc.).
  3. Join a group to see posts, events, files, and member lists.
  4. Create a new group by tapping "+ New Group."
Set group name, description, location, category, and privacy level (Public or Members-Only). Public groups appear in search. Members-Only requires approval.
  5. Post in your group: text updates, photos, questions, events, and shared files (planting guides, local nursery lists, etc.).
💡
Local groups are the best way to get region-specific advice. A gardener in Zone 4 Minnesota faces very different challenges than one in Zone 9 Florida.

🎓Mentors

  2. Search for mentors by specialty, zone, experience level, and availability.
  3. View mentor profiles with their growing experience, specialties, photos, and reviews from past mentees.
  4. Send a mentorship request with a brief message about what you want to learn.
  5. To become a mentor, tap "Become a Mentor" and complete your mentor profile.

💡
The best mentor-mentee relationships are specific. Instead of asking "teach me gardening," try "I want to learn succession planting for a continuous salad harvest in Zone 6." Specificity helps mentors give focused guidance.
